"I came to the Mission on my own, and I'm so glad I did…I've been able to get away from the temptations that have really hurt me. I have a better perspective on my life and what God wants for me." - Joe, Haven of Rest resident

    A Time For All Things

As we fight off the bitter cold and scrape endless layers of ice off the windows of our cars it’s hard to rejoice to the Lord and sing his praises. It is much easier to rejoice with our toes in the sand on a sunny day with a slight breeze through our hair. Though we may not feel like jumping and shouting as we bundle up against the biting winter wind it is important to remember that God has created this time of year for a reason.

Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us there is a time for everything: “For everything there is a season, and a time for everything under heaven.” In northeast Ohio we may be well past the time of picnics and going to the beach but we have made it into the season of cozy, warm nights at home with family and snowball fights in the backyard. And every season is the season for the hope and joy that we find through our Savior Jesus Christ. What a better time to share his love and warmth than in a time that may feel hopelessly dreary and cold.

Just as you enjoy time with your family during the winter months, Haven of Rest Ministries creates a family-like atmosphere for all we serve. More and more families and individuals struggling with homelessness come to us as the temperature drops and weather becomes dangerous. Haven of Rest provides not only a warm and safe place to pass the night but a chance for everyone to enjoy a lifetime with Jesus and his great love and hope.

Please remember us in your prayers as we enter the coldest months of the year. Just as you find comfort and peace in the warmth of your homes this winter, pray that Haven of Rest may bring the same feelings to families and individuals in need of shelter, food, and spiritual renewal.

God’s blessings to you and your loved ones.
