• Overcoming Barriers …by Aimee Pryor

The Future Story Job Training Program works with women who have barriers to employment. These barriers could be a variety of things such as transportation, child care, lack of experience and opportunity, or even lack of confidence.

Recently we set up our tables at the Hower House Artisan Fair in downtown Akron to display items the women and volunteers have made. It was a great opportunity and a great show! Volunteers contribute by helping teach sewing skills and also by making items to donate to the program and the Future Story shop in Hartville. Women who are creative entrepreneurs and volunteers talked with customers, explained their products, and shared about the program. For some women, it was their first time interacting with customers and seeing their items sell!

Confidence is built when we take risks, try something new, and then succeed! Homelessness can tear down anyone’s hopes and dreams, but through Future Story women are finding that their future can be filled with hope and possibilities. Would you consider supporting Future Story? Check out our shop at the Hartville Market Place in Hartville, Ohio, and help support women in need!
