CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The Career Development program helps men and women nearing the end of their rehabilitation process learn the skills they need to find and keep a job. The Career Development Coordinator works with the residents to identify skills and assess what kind of jobs would be most suitable for them.
Success in the Career Development program is completion of classes enabling residents to secure employment, vocational training, or continue their education.
Objectives:
• Assess skills and determine most suitable jobs
• Write a resume
• Determine questions to ask during an interview
• Participate in mock interview sessions
• Improve "soft” employment skills employers look for, such as
Proper attitude
Appropriate dress
Problem solving
Punctuality
• Assist in developing a long-range plan for their career advancement
• Research employment opportunities
